CORE VALUE STATEMENT

The Australian Stock Horse Society exists to:

  • promote the development and acceptance of the Australian Stock Horse as an equine breed of excellence and importance;
  • provide service to all facets of the Australian Stock Horse industry;
  • guarantee that the welfare of the Australian Stock Horse is protected at all times; and
  • ensure that all individual members of the Society, and those who serve as Directors, Breeders, Competitors, Coaches, Judges, Stewards and Volunteers act with honesty and integrity in all of their dealings with the Society, other members, clients and the public at large.

UNDERTAKINGS

  • Members of The Australian Stock Horse Society who are engaged in breeding activities or offering Australian Stock Horses for sale undertake that they will act in accordance with the Core Value Statement at all times.
  • Members of The Australian Stock Horse Society who are engaged in breeding activities or offering Australian Stock Horses for sale undertake that they will exercise humane and responsible care for all horses for which they are accountable, be responsible in respect of the selection of breeding stock, maintain accurate stud records, engage only in basic advice and help to clients.
  • Members of The Australian Stock Horse Society who are engaged in breeding activities or offering Australian Stock Horses for sale will endeavour to operate their breeding operations and business dealings in a such a manner as that which promotes the image of the Australian Stock Horse and as that which instills confidence in the industry among owners, buyers and the public at large.
  • Members of The Australian Stock Horse Society who are engaged in breeding activities or offering Australian Stock Horses for sale will at all times abide by the Rules and Regulations of the Society.

UNDERSTANDING

Persons who breed or sell Australian Stock Horses are at the forefront of the industry. They are the persons whose activities can best preserve the integrity of the Australian Stock Horse Breed by upholding quality and selective breeding standards, by maintaining accurate records and by dealing with buyers and the public at large in an honest manner. Further, their efforts in dealing openly, honestly and according to best business practices can instil public confidence in the industry. In recognition of their importance, all who breed or offer Australian Stock Horses for sale are expected to operate according to the Core Value Statement and the Code of Conduct and the Rules and Regulations that are adopted to quantify acceptable breeding practices.

The Australian Stock Horse Society recommends that Members engage in breeding activities or offering Australian Stock Horses for sale document their agreements in writing. These agreements need to be signed by the parties involved and copies of the agreement made available to all parties.
