CORE VALUE STATEMENT

The Australian Stock Horse Society exists to:

  • promote the development and acceptance of the Australian Stock Horse as an equine breed of excellence and importance;
  • provide service to all facets of the Australian Stock Horse industry;
  • guarantee that the welfare of the Australian Stock Horse is protected at all times; and
  • ensure that all individual members of the Society, and those who serve as Directors, Breeders, Competitors, Coaches, Judges, Stewards and Volunteers act with honesty and integrity in all of their dealings with the Society, other members, clients and the public at large.

UNDERTAKINGS

  • Members of the Board of Directors of the Australian Stock Horse Society undertake that they will act in accordance with the Core Value Statement at all times.
  • Members of the Board of Directors of The Australian Stock Horse Society accept that they serve in a number of roles, being principally as decision makers, directors, representatives of the individual members, promoters of the values of the Society as executives and that in carrying out the various tasks required in these capacities, they undertake to carry out their duties with honesty and integrity.
  • Members of the Board of Directors of The Australian Stock Horse Society will endeavour to operate according to best available management practices and accepted principles of governance and that they will ensure that there is transparency and accountability in their activities at all times.
  • Members of the Board of Directors of The Australian Stock Horse Society recognise that there are common law duties imposed on Directors and Officers and that they will need to act according to these duties, which are:
    • to act honestly in the exercise of their powers and in the discharge of their responsibilities;
    • to exercise a reasonable degree of care and diligence;
    • to not make improper use of information acquired to gain advantage for themselves or others; and
    • to not make improper use of their position to gain an advantage for themselves or others or to cause detriment to the Society.

UNDERSTANDING

Persons who serve as Members of the Board of Directors give of their time, energy and personal finances to oversee the interests of the Society. The individual members of the Society recognise and give thanks to those who act in the capacity as Directors. In return, Directors undertake to act with the highest degree of integrity in respect of the Society, the Breed, all who are involved in the Society and members of the general public.
